Found in Sudan? Mali? ? as a terrestrial with a globose tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying a single, adpressed to the ground, more or less hirsute, orbicular, cordate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, provided with 2, glabrous except the apex bracts, 11.2" [33 cm] long, distantly few to 10 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

Similar to H armatissimum but H lecardii is distinguished by the smaller flowers, the hairs, the short stalked ovaries and by the details of the gynostemium.

CAUTION I have no way of verifying this determination, Kraenzlin says it is from the Mahina forest of Tropical Africa, Google maps has the only Mahina in Mali, Kew says it is from West Africa, the collection sheet states that it is from Sudan, I have no references so please use with caution!!!!!!!
