Flower Size 1/2" to 1.7" [1.3 to 1.6 cmlong]

Found in the Ryuykus, Taiwan, China Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Nepal and Vietnam in shady places of broad leafed evergreen forests or bamboo forests at elevations of 250 to 1800 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an ovoid tuber giving rise to an erect, elongate, glabrous stem enveloped in the lower half by tubular sheaths and in the upper half carrying 7, narrowly elliptic to obovate-lanceolate, herbaceous, stem clasping basally leaves that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on a terminal, racemose, 4 to 6" [10 to 15 cm] long; densely many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, caudate bracts and carrying sweetly fragrant flowers.

Similar to H ciliolaris but differs in the quite glabrpous scapes and the biparted petals portions of which are divaricated 180 degrees. The synonym H longitentaculata differs from the type in the long-tailed sepals, the bracts and the leaves.
