Found as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial in China, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar and Thailand in deciduous forests, grasslands and at forest margins at elevations of 100 to 1200 meters with small cylindric tubers giving rise to a reduced and sub-scapigerous stem carrying a few sub-radical, sessile, oblong to linear-oblong, yellow margined leaves grading above into 2 to 5, lanceolate, acuminate sterile bracts that blooms in the summer on a 4 to 10" [10 to 25 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with many erect, ovate-lanceolate, acute bracts.
