Common Name The Large River Habenaria [refers to the Parana]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Parana and Rio Grande Do Sul states of Brazil as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect, lower part with strongly amplexicaul sheaths, from the first third and up leafy stem carrying several, 5 nerved, lanceolate, middle largest decreasing in size upwards and towards the base leaves that blooms in the summer on a erminal, erect, laxly many flowered inflorescence with lsnceolate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying green-yellow flowers with a yellow lip.

"Closely related to H longipedicellata but H megapotamensis has longer leaves, alaxer, many flowered inflorescence with slightly larger flowers with longer spurs up to 3" [7.5 cm] long, while the pedicels do not exceed a max of 1" [2.5 cm] in length.
