Found in Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul states of Brazil at elevations around 750 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect, , elongate, leafy throughout stem carrying 5 to 6, erect- patent to suberect, , linear-lanceolate, acute, rosulate, acuminate leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, elongate, 2 to 4.4" [5 to 11 cm] long, cylindrical, multiflowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate-aristate, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying small flowers.

"Similar to H parviflora in smaller specimens and H paraensis In larger specimens but it is distinguished from all others in the genus by its completely undivided petals and the front segment is only indicated by an obtuse protruding angle." Schlechter 1930
