Common Name Regnell's Habenaria [Swedish Physician and Orchid Collector in Brazil 1800's]
Flower Size .32" [8 mm]
Found in southeastern Brazil, Paraguay and northeastern Argentina at elevations of 850 to 900 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by linear to lanceolate-oblong, acute, grading larger above leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, terminal, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, laxly few [3 to rarely 12] flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, concave, erect, half as long as the ovary floral bracts.
"Can be placed next to H leprieurii but it differs in the larger leaves. H regnellii has leaves reduced to scales. A Very unattractive species with a thin, flabby, consimtive plant with threadlike roots and thin stems bearing 2 to 3 small, unsightly flowers." Kraenzlin 1911
Synonyms Habenaria flaccida Kraenzl. 1911; Habenaria pauciflora Barb.Rodr. 1877; ; ; Habenaria poissoniana Cogn. 1906 publ. 1907;
