Found in Belize, Costa Rica, Fr Guiana, Guyana, Bahia, Espiritu Santo, Goias, DF, Minas Gerias, Rio de Janiero, Matto Grosso, Sao Paulo, Parana and Santa Catarina states of Brazil, Peru and Paraguay as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by grading larger above, imbricating, obtuse becoming acuminate above leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, terminal, 1.6 to 2.8" [4 to 7 cm] long, laxly several flowered inflorescence with imbricating, acuminate, inflated, triangular bracts that are half as long to as long as the ovary.
