Common Name The Rodeio Habenaria [A town in the State of Santa Catarina Brazil]

Found in Belize, Costa Rica, Fr Guiana, Guyana, Bahia, Espirito Santo, Goias, DF, Minas Gerias, Rio de Janiero, Matto Grosso, Sao Paulo, Parana and Santa Catarina states of Brazil, Peru and Paraguay in dry savanna and oak woods at elevations of 1200 to 1900 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by grading larger above, imbricating, obtuse becoming acuminate above leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, terminal, 1.6 to 2.8" [4 to 7 cm] long, laxly several flowered inflorescence with imbricating, acuminate, inflated, triangular bracts that are half as long to as long as the ovary and carrying rather large, green, white or ceream colored flowers.

"H. rodeiensis is very similar to Habenaria longipedicellata, H. lehmanniana and H. tamanduensis , and the exact identity of each of these taxa and the separation between them is not clear. Until a more detailed comparative study is done, we provisionally treat here all the material in this group from lowlands in the Brazilian Amazon as H. longipedicellata." Joćo A. N.
