Found in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam along rice paddies or in abandoned fields on grassy slopes, open areas of deciduous forests at elevations of sealevel to 1100 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with 2 to 4, cauline, scattered in the lower half of the stem, oblong-oblanceolate, acute, mucronate, basally clasping leaves grading to above 5 to 11, suberect, lanceolate, acuminate, shortly hairy margined sterile bracts that blooms in the late spring through early fall on an erect, terminal, 6.2 to 20" " [16 to 50 cm] long, 5 to 17 flowered inflorescence with a to 2" [5 cm] long rachis carrying lanceolate, acuminate, shortly hairy margined floral bracts.
