Common Name The Singapore Habenaria
Flower Size .72" [1.8 cm]
Found in penninsular Malaysia and northern Borneo in swamp forests as a large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with about 12, towards the middle, wide set near the apex, acute, narrowing below into the short, channelled petiolate base leaves grading to bracts towards the apex, that blooms in the latrer summer on a terminal, erect, to 4" [10 cm] long, densely several to many flowered inflorescence.
"Similar to H salaccensis but is very distinct in the dense, thick raceme of pale whitish flowers. The dorsal sepal is much narrower, of a greyish, glaucous green and minutely punctate. It has a slender hair-like awn at the apex. The lateral sepals are white with three green veins and the awn is much longer. The petals much resemble those of H salaccensais but the lip is longer in proportion to the sepals; the lobes are very narrow and of a dull, glaucous, olive green. The spur is long and straight. The stigmatic lobes are much shorter than in other species and the anther processes are much longer. The pollen granules are very fine and the pedicel is a clear transluscent golden color and is very slender. Though by no means a showy plant the peculiar greyish green color mixed with the white of the sepals is very striking.
