Kefersteinia lojae Schlechter 1929 SECTION Papilionatae NO Photo

Full shadeCoolTo WarmSummer

Common Name The Loja Kefersteinia {Ecuadorian Town]

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 1700 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool to warm growing, fan-shaped, epiphytic species without psuedobulbs found with an abbreviated, clustered stem enveloped by several distichous, imbricate leaf sheaths carrying linear-oblanceolate, subacute leaves that are articulated into the conduplicate leaf sheaths thatblooms in the summer on a .8" [2 cm] long, axillary, solitary flowered inflorescence holding the flower near the base of the leaves.

Kefersteinia lindneri is said to be synomonous with this species but I feel there are substantial differences to keep them separate.

CAUTION!!! A confusing species that has not been placed wth certainty. All photos that I and Patricia Harding have seen are not this species.

Synonyms *Chondrorhyncha lojae [Schlechter] Schweinf. 1944
