Common Name Ghilliany's Laelia [Brazilian Orchid Collector and discoverer of this species]

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found as a rupicolus Laelia growing directly on rocks in small cracks and crevasses as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing lithophyte with small, globose pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, stiff, coriaceous, ovate-lanceolate, acute leaf that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, 8 to 10" [20 to 25 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.

Distinguishing characteristics of this species are the shorter to just barely longer than the leaf inflorescence and the column that is markedly broader at the base and flowers that arise in the spring
