Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil in rocky trascts near Dianmantina with elongate pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong, canaliculate leaf that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, short, many flowered inflorescence

This species is often said to be a synonym of L crispata but Campacci and others in Brazil consider it to be distinct.
