Found in Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia in premontane rain forest to cloud forest and disturbed primary forests at elevations of 1500 to 2600 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing growing epiphyte with an erect, stout ramicaul enveloped by 9 to 17, shortly ciliate lepanthiform sheaths with oblique ostia and carrying a single apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical to broadly elliptical, obtuse, shortly acuminate, rounded to cuneate and contracted below intothe petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring in Costa Rica and summer in Colombia on a filiform, dense, districhous, 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long including the .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long peduncle, successively single, many flowered inflroescence arising on the back of the leaf and has oblique floral bracts.
