Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, western Himalayas, Sikkim, China, Vietnam and Taiwan at elevations of 1660 to 2000 meters in humid, mossy mixed and coniferous forests as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial or lithophyte with ovoid, comressed, clustered pseudobulbs carrying a single apical, broadly ovate, cordate, distinctly veined, acuminate leaf and blooms in the summer and fall on a subdensely 6 to 20 flowered, 6" [15 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with triangular, acute floral bracts.
