Found in Hainan, Xizang and Yunnan provinces of China, Assam, the eastern Himalayas, Laos and Vietnam on tree in forests or along valleys at elevations of 500 to 2900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with densely arranged, oblong to cylindric-fusiform pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3, spatulate-oblong to oblong-lanceolate, papery, articulate, acute and apiculate apically, contracted below into the short, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, upper part sometimes narrowly winged, 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long, several to 10 flowered inflorescence with a few sterile bracts and ovate-lanceolate floral bracts
