Common Name The Elegant Liparis

Flower Size

Found in southern Colombia, Azuay, Bolivar and Pichincha provinces of Ecuador, Amazonas, Junin and Libertad departments of Peru and Cochabamba department of Bolivia in wet cloud forests at elevations of 2400 to 3600 meters as a miniature to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with a creeping, terete rhizome giving rise to pairs of ovate to ovate-elliptic, acute to obtuse, petiolate base leaves that blooms at any time of the year on an erect, peduncle 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, rachis 1 to 2.2" [2.5 to 5.5 cm] long, subdensely, successively several, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying flowers with white to purple sepals and petals , sometimes with a purple midvein, A white to purple lip with blod purple veins and a median purple line and a yellow green gynostemmium.

Almost identical to L serpens but differs in the leaves that arise in pairs vs singly.
