Found in Japan, the Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand and Sulawesi in dense forests and along streamsides at elevations around 300 to 600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with slender, terete, greenish tinged with purple stems with new shoots that arise from the middle and carrying 4 to 9, green and flushed with purple, obliquely elliptic, acute, decurrent below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on a green to purplish, 5 to 6 ridged, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence

CAUTION Does not conform well with some of the references that I have available to me, so use with caution. The Type drawing by Ames is absolutely correct!
