Found in Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador in upper montane cloud forests at eleavtions around 1800 to 2600 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with pyriform pseudobulbs enveloped by imbricating leafless becoming leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2, subopposite, ovate, acute, thin, venation obvious, cuneate below to form an elongate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, termianl, to 10" [to 25 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with the non-resupinate flowers held in a subumbel.
