Common Name The Trumpet-Shaped Masdevallia

This species has been collected from Peru and Ecuador from an altitude of 1500 meters as a medium sized epiphyte with a dense mat forming habit with a leathery stem carrying a single, apical leaf and has a slender, 2" [5 cm] long, solitary flowered inflorescence arising in the spring.
