Common Name The Plain Masdevallia

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical to obovate, subacute to acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, slender to 1.2 to 1.4" [3 to 3.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a tubular bract near the base and oblique floral bracts.
