Found in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in tropical wet forests at elevations around 230 meters as a medium sized, hot growing, caespitose epiphyte with compressed, lightly rugose, green pseudobulbs enveloped by distichous, non-foliaceous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, linear, dorsally carinate, narrowing below into the sulcate, terete, long petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a basal, erect, enveloped by slightly inflated bracts, single flowered inflorescence carrying yellow flowers
