Common Name Versteeg's Mediocalcar [Dutch Explorer 1800's]

This dwarf, epiphytic, matforming species occurs in Papua and New Guinea at altitudes of 800 to 2000 meters and requires moderate shade and has an elongate, terete rhizome giving rise to a cylindrical pseuodbulb that is connate to the rhizome and carrys a single, apical, ligulate, obtuse leaf that blooms in the late winter on a very short, terete, glabrous, single flowered inflorescence.
