Common Name The Regal Megalorchis

Found in north and northwestern Madagascar in mossy montane forests at elevations of 1800 to 2000 meters as a large to giant sized, cool growing terrestrial with stout, hairy, fleshy roots giving rise to an erect leafy stem carrying 12 to 15, elliptic-ligulate, acuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, to 16" [to 40 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence carrying large, fleshy, white, glabrous flowers.
