Common Name Callejas' Microchilus [Colombian Co-collector of Type Current]

Found only in Antioquia department of Colombia at elevations around 2800 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect, terete, leafy stem carrying 5, 1 to 2 leaves displaced on peduncle, obliquely oblong to ovate lanceolate, subacuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, pubescent, 15 to 17.4" [37.5 to 43.5 cm] long overall, peduncle 9 to 10.2" [22.5 to 25.5 cm] long, rachis 6 to 7.2" [15 to 18 cm] long, laxly to sublaxly many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying externally pubescent, white flowers.

"This species appears to be a close relative of its Colombian congener M. dolichostachys but differs from it in having flowers with a wider 1.04 versus .99" [2.6 versus 2.25 mm] epichile with falcate, not straight lobules, and a wider .08 versus .04" [2 vs. 1 mm] hypochile. Ormerod 2013
