Found in the Mantiqueira Rain Forest Mountains of Minas Gerais state of Brazil at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect to ascending, stout ramicauls enveloped basally by 4 to 7 tubular, hispidulous sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, narrowly elliptic-ovate, acute leaf that is cuneate below into the subpetiolate base and blooms at most any time of the year on a fascile of single, successive flowers arising at the apex of the mature ramicaul and the base of the leaf and has pubescent, longer to as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

"Distinguished by the shortly repent habit, leaves about as long as the ramicaul, a single flower, very slender petals minimally swollen at the apex, and a thick, bicrested lip with the apex narrowly rounded with the fringed margins revolute." Luer 1992
