Found in f Ancash, Lima, Junín, Huancavelica, Cusco and Puno departments of Peru and La Paz department of Bolivia on rocky hillsides with loam soil, grasslands and wetland at elevations around 3000 to 4800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with 4 to 5, radical and rosulate to fasciled, on a separate shoot, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on a totally enveloped by hyaline, imbricating, loosely infundibuliform sheaths, to 1.08" [2.7 cm] long, cylindric-conic, densely many flowered inflorescence with hyaline, sub-orbicular ovate, with irregular margins and not as long as the flowers floral bracts.
"Closest to Myrosmodes paludosa but M chiogena differs in the smaller flowers, the lip with deep slits at the edges, and its shorter column with a triangular rostellum." Schlechter 1922
