Found in Ecuador in paramo at elevations of 3000 to 4100 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the winter on an erect, completly enveloped by 5 to 6, fistulose, loose fitting, diaphanous sheaths with a blackish brown apex, rachis short to 1.6" [4 cm] long, cylindric, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with a decurved, blackish brown apex, obovate-oblong, obtuse floral bracts.
