Found in the eastern Himalayas and western China in forests at elevations around 3000 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid with a slender, glabrous stem with a single basal, oblong, obtuse sheath and carrying 2, opposite at the middle of the stem, orbicular-ovate to wedge shaped, obtuse to subacute, sessile leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, minutely puberulous, 4.8 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, sparsely 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute, concave floral bracts
