Found in northern and central Taiwan in coniferous forests at elevations of 2600 to 3300 metrs as a miniture to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a cylindric, slender stem carrying 2 opposite, bourne below the middle, broadly ovate, acute, truncate below into the sessile base leaves that bloomas in the early summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle 1.2 to 2.4" [3 to 6 cm] long, pubescent, provided with 3 sterile bracts, rachis 2 t o3.2" [5 to 8 cm] long, pubescent, laxly 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, , less than half as long as the ovary floral bracts
