Common Name The Malia Nervilia [A river of New Guinea]

Found in New Guinea in secondary forests at elevations around 150 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot growing terrestrial with a globose tuber giving rise to a large, reniform, obscurely 5 to 7 angled, acute, glabrous, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, terete, glabrous, single flowered inflorescence with an erect, elliptic-ligulate, subacute, glabrous floral bract.

Schlechter states that the flowers are greenish white, closely spotted and streaked with violet-red.
