Found in Zaire, Tanzania, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia in sandy soil in deciduous woodlands at elevations of 700 to 1800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a small, globose, slightly compressed tuber giving rise to a single, prostrate, reniform, basally cordate, slightly flabellate-undulate, obtuse, sparsely and shortly pubescent leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, to 3" [7.5 cm] long, slender, terete, single flowered inflorescence
