Found in the the Chinese Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal and Thailand in forests on rocks at elevations of 1350 to 3000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing lithophyte with a leafy, compressed stem carrying linear, falcate, acute, fleshy leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an axillary, erect, slender, verticillate, .8 to 3" [2 to 7.5 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with much longer than the pedicel, lanceolate, acuminate, distantly serrate floral bracts carrying orange brown, verticillate flowers.
