Octomeria filifolia is a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic species from Venezuela and the Atlantic forest in Brasil at elevations of 1300 to 1800 meters with thin, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, terete leaf that blooms in the spring and fall from the apex of the ramicaul with a filiform, few flowered inflorescence.
