Octomeria filifolia is a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic species from Venezuela and the Atlantic forest in Brasil in cloud forests at elevations of 900 to 1900 meters with thin, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, terete leaf that blooms in the spring and summer from the apex of the ramicaul with a filiform, few flowered inflorescence.
