Found in the western Himalayas, Assam, the eastern Himalayas, Nepal, southwestern Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan, Myanmar and Taiwan in alpine coniferous forests, bamboo thckets and in open grasslands at elevations of 2800 to 3200 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a rhizome giving rise to underground, ovate pseduobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblanceolate to lanceolate, arching downwards, plicate leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect to ascending, basal thick, glabrous, dull green flushed with purple brown, well spaced, 5 to 7 flowered inflorescence.
