Common Name The Axe-Like Auricled Column Otoglossum

Flower Size 2 to 2.5" [5 to 6.25 cm]

Found in northern Ecuador on the western slopes of the Andes at elevations of 500 to 2500 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with a scaly rhizome that has 2" [5 cm] between each small, ovate, ancipitous pseudobulb carrying a single, leathery, elliptic-oblong leaf that blooms on a basal, to 12" [to 30 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence

Notice the lip with the extended calli projection and acutely winged lobes which is diagnostic for this species.
