Found in the western Himalayas, Chinese Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam on trees or rocks in forests at elevations of 1000 to 2100 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with many subcylindrical, arising from the apex of the last pseudobulb and appearing to be a pendulous or creeping stem and carrying 2 apical, narrowly elliptic to narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, racemose, laxly several flowered inflorescence arising from between the apical leaves and carries fragrant flowers .
