Common Name The Tiger Striped Paphiopedilum - In China Hu Ban Dou Lan
Flower Size 3.2 to 3.6" [8 to 9 cm]
Found in extreme western Yunnan province of China in damp and slightly shady locations on shrubby or thinly wooded slopes on trees at elevations of 1400 to 2200 meters as a cool to cold growing terrestrial with 2 to 5, distichous, abaxially pale green, carinate, adaxially gree to sometimes very obscurely tesselated with deep and light green, linear-ligulate, , leathery, rounded and tridenticulate apically leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect to suberect, shortly pilose, peduncle green, 8 to 10" [20 to 25 cm] long, rachis densely purple pubescent, single flowered inflorescence with a green spotted or flushed with purple towards the base and the apex, elliptic-oblong, purple pubescence towards the abaxial base, as long as to slightly longer than the ovary floral bract.
