Common Name Laycock's Paraphalaenopsis [English Orchid Collector SE Asia 1900's]
Flower Size 3" [7.5 cm]
Rarely found in central and south Borneo in lowland and hill forest as a pendant, terete leafed, hot growing epiphyte with to 5, terete, grooved, pointed, dark green leaves that has an axillary, subcapitate, 2 to 15, densely flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bracts and oddly fragrant, fleshy flowers occuring in the summer.
They are similar in cultural requirements to Phalaenopsis but differ in needing to be mounted or in baskets to accomodate the pendant growth habit.
