Common Name Kunstler's Phalaenopsis [Orchid Collector in Malasia 1800's]

Flower Size 1 3/4" [4.5 cm]

Found in Malaysia and Burma at low to moderate elevations in humid lowland forests as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with 2 to 4 leaves that blooms in the fall on a suberect to arching, slowly elongating to 16" [to 40 cm] long, 2 to 3 at a time, several flowered, paniculate inflorescence with a few to several flowers.

Very similar to P fuscata but differs in the short, squat column that is constricted at the middle.
