Found in the Bismarck archipelago on trees in forests at elevations around 600 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte that blooms in the early winter.
Schlechter states that the flowers are white. He also states that this species is very similar to P gladiata and P micrantha in lip shape but this one differs in the pointed leaves that are clearly narrower at the base and the different sheaths.
