Found in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona and California at elevations of 2500 to 3300 meters to as a small to large sized, cold growing terrestrial with a few to several, abruptly diverging to sometimes ascending, oblong to ovate to lanceolate leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, 9.6 to 32" [24 to 80 cm] long, very lax to dense, many flowered inflorescence carrying semen scented flowers. .
