Found in central and southern Taiwan in alpine grasslands at elevations of 3200 to 3600 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a tuberous ovoid rootstock giving rise to an erect, slender stem provided with basal sheaths and carrying 2, basal, ovate to ovate-oblong, membraneous, , acute, contracted below intothe sheathing base leaves that blooms in the later summer on an erect, 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acute, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
