Common Name or Meaning The Self Fertilizing Pleurothallis

Found in Chiriqui province of Panama at elevations around 2400 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls with a tubular sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, more or less acuminate, acuminate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a fascile of a few to several, enveloped by a spathe at the base of the petiole, peduncles .04 to .12" [1 to 3 mm] long, simultaneous single flowered inflorescence with thin, half as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

Little more than a cleistogamous form of P ruscifolia but difffers in smaller flowers with thckened sepals that are prportionally wider, thick, narrrow, triangular petals that are wider and an oblong, acute lip with acutely angled margins above the middle. The base is distinctly concave and articulated witha bulbous tip of the column foot." Luer 1998
