Common Name Hitchcock's Pleurothallis [American Botanist early 1900's]

Found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil in dense forests at elevations of 300 to 2900 meters as a small sized, hot to cold growing epiphyte with an erect, slender ramicaul partially enveloped below by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the twisted petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a single, successively few flowered fascile arising through a spathe from near the apex of the ramicaul and carrying thin, tubular floral bracts.
