Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia at elevations around 1800 to 3000 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect, fasciculate ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3, imbricating sheaths at the base at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on 2 to 3, slender, congested, more or less distichous, on a 6 to 10" [15 to 25 cm] long including the 1.2" [3 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a slender spathe from an annulus just below the abscission layer.
