Found in northeastern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela at elevations around 1400 to 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped with a close, tubular sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, convex, acute, rounded and shallowly cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect to suberect, lax, districhous, 2.8 to 4" [7 to 10 cm] long including the 1.6" [ 4 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously few to several flowered inflorescence arising through a slender spathe at the base of the leaf.

This species can be color variable in the flower with sepals and petals from brown, light brown, brownish to golden yellow and can have none to pale to dark maroon spotting and the nerves can be inconspiculous to somewhat thickened and are sometimes colored light to dark maroon.
