Common Name The Suspended Pleurotahllis [refers to the hanging or pendant flower]

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]

Found in Surinam, Guyana and Bolivar State of Venezuela in cloud forests at elevations around 500 to 1200 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect to suberect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 1 or 2, close tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect to spreading, thinly coriaceous, elliptical-ovate, acute, slightly acuminate, basally cuneate and sessile leaf and blooms in the late spring on 1 to 2, arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf, weak, drooping, distichous, simultaneous and loosely many flowered, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, purple, inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract and carrying non-resupinate flowers.

”Similar to P penduliflorra but differs in the smaller plant with pendent, flaccid, lax racemes of purple flowers that overhang more or less horizontal, non-cordate leaves.
