Common Name or Meaning The Volcano Pleurothallis [refers to El Hato del Volcan in Chiriqui Panama]

Found in Costa Rica and Panama in cloud forests at elevations around 1500 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with slender, terete ramicauls enveloped basally by 1 to 2 close, tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, acuminate, acute, broadly cuneate to rounded basally, sessile leaf that blooms in the fall on a weak, suberect, 3.6 to 7.2" [9 to 18 cm] long, laxly several [5 to 11] flowered, secund, racemose inflorescence arising through a slender spathe.
