Found in eastern Cuba, in humid and shady places in montane rainforests, mesophyllous evergreen rainforests, gallery forests and charrascales from 300 to 900 meters as a hot to warm growing epiphyte with very short, ascending ramicauls enveloped completely by 3, membraneous, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, ellipticto obovate to suborbicular, obtuse to rounded, minutely tridentate, green to greenish purple, shortly attenuate into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on 1 to 3, terminal, capilar, erect, glabrous, .1 to .15" [2 to 3 mm] long, generally single flowered inflorescence arising through a tubular sheath with an annulus.
