Common Name The Neglected Pleurothallis

Flower Size .2" [5 mm] wide 1.52" [3.8 cm] long]

Found in Rivas department of Nicaragua and Alajuela province of Costa Rica at elevations around 500 to 1300 meters as a just small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect, terete ramicuals enveloped by 1 to 3, tubular, adpressed, papery, brown bracts and carrying a single, apical, erect, fleshy, coriaceous,narrowly elliptic-ovate, conduplicate, acute retuse, rounded and narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and later summer on an erect, arising through a small, conduplicate, linear, acute spathe, peduncle .56" [1.4 cm] long, rachis 1.28 to 1.46" [3.2 to 3.6" cm] long, lax, distichous, simultaneously 3 flowerwed inflorescence with ovate, acute, conduplicate, papyraceous, just short of the ovary in length floral bract.

"Distinguished from P luctosa by the distinct, conduplicate leaves vs semiterete, the flowers with the greenish yellow sepals with purple veins, the petals brown purple, the lip light green to yellowish vs sepals and petals purple, the triangular, smaller lip green suffused with purple, the falcate, erose petals vs obsoletely serate-denticulate and the callus formed by tho conspicuous, densely papillose keels vs low and glabrous. It also resembles P amphygia but differs in the distichous, simultaneously 3 flowered raceme vs single flowered , the acuminate sepals vs narrowly long acuminate and the color of the flowers which in P amphygia are purple."
